Slacker
Back to Father's Day, love my Dad, love my brother, who often steps in as "Uncle Rick", and helps out with the kiddies. Yesterday my son and I went to my parents with Uncle Rick for Father's Day, had lunch, nice peaceful day.
Then I took that same son to the batting cages. He was the only kid there with his mother on Father's Day. This was not an issue for him...at all. This is his normal. It pissed me off.
On the way home I said, "Curt, did you call your Dad?" I got "the look" as I call it. It is the "are you a complete and total moron Mom look". If you have a teenager you have seen it. "Sooooo", I said "guessing that is a NO." He gave me the look again and said "maybe I will text him in a couple days and say hey I forgot to call you....kind of like my birthday and Christmas."
Being me of course I could not just DROP IT. So I said, "Curt, are you upset?" He says, "no Mom, I am done with all that, YOU are upset, I like hanging out with my Mom on Father's Day."
Love Curt, still don't like Father's Day......back to our normal programming tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Curtism
I was driving my son to his baseball game this afternoon and we were chatting about various topics, his batting average (not so great), his FCAT Scores (awesome), his birthday that just passed (14, where did the freakin time go), his father (a subject for another day) and the weather. At one point I really did not think he was paying any attention to me so I asked him if he was listening. "yes Mom, I heard you." So I said, "so, what do you think?" He gave me this goofy look (he will flip if he sees I posted that picture)
and said....."Mom, you worry too much, I get that is your job but toooo much." I replied, "maybe you should be a tad more concerned." He said....."I am not going to worry about things that don't need worrying about."
I was silent (this is rare) I had to mull that one over for a little while. Then I asked him "what do you mean?" He said "Things you can't change don't need worrying about, so lets not worry about things that don't need worrying about."
Now I just have to do it.

Teach Your Tot
Teach Your Tot is a really cool website run by Corey, a local Mom with a degree in elementary school education. She takes a theme and creates all sorts of things to do from books, to art to activities all related to the weekly theme.
Her site is fun and easy to navigate, you can find the ideas that interest you and make the activities your own. While I was lurking around her site I actually thought how nice it would be if my kids were little again....then reality slapped me in the face and I headed to a baseball game......check out Teach Your Tot and have some fun this summer!
